Why my play mat doesn't fit
The mat is designed to be a snug fit in the play vault. That's intentional — a snug mat sits flat and stays put instead of sliding around under a game.
So a mat that seems slightly too long usually isn't the wrong size. It's most often that the table sections aren't pulled fully together, which leaves the vault opening a fraction short of where it should be.
Don't trim it and don't force it. This is nearly always fixable in a few minutes.
Adjust the rails, then settle the mat
1. Loosen the rail bolts. Underneath the table, loosen the bolts that fasten the rails to the table base.
2. Align the rails. Adjust their positioning to give a little more breathing room to the play vault, so the mat has room to sit.
3. Tighten. Once the rails are where you want them, fully tighten the bolts securing them.
4. Massage the mat into place. Set the ends of the mat into the corners so the slack lifts up as an air pocket. Lightly press down on the air pockets and spread the slack out through the rest of the mat. It should settle and press against the rails — flat, and snug.
That last step is the one people skip, and it's usually what finishes the job. Neoprene has some give; the slack doesn't need to be removed so much as distributed.
