Zola warranty coverage
Coverage runs from the date of delivery to the original purchaser, and periods vary by component — a load-bearing frame and a control handset shouldn't carry the same number.
| Component | At home | In a commercial space |
|---|---|---|
| Frame, legs, welds, joinery, load-bearing hardware | 2 years | 1 year |
| Manual crank lift — gearbox, screw, crank | 2 years | 1 year |
| Electric lift — motor, actuator, lift column | 2 years | 1 year |
| Lift control electronics — control box, handset, switches, wiring, power supply | 1 year | 1 year |
| Rails, cup holders, accessory hardware, latches | 2 years | 1 year |
| Hardware and fasteners | Free, any time | Free, any time |
| Play surface, toppers, foam, finish | Wear not covered; defects covered as above | Wear not covered; defects covered as above |
Commercial use is covered
If your table lives in a café, bar, restaurant, game store, library, school, event venue, club, or coworking space, you have coverage — one year across the same components.
This is a change worth naming: commercial use used to void the warranty entirely. It doesn't any more. If you were told otherwise previously, this table is what's current.
What counts as commercial is use within your trade, business, craft, or profession, or in any space open to the public or to members. Everything else is residential and carries the longer periods.
Hardware and fasteners are free, always
Bolts, screws, cam locks, washers, the small metal parts. No time limit, no claim required — if you're missing one or one fails, tell us and we send it.
These are the cheapest things in the product and the ones most likely to go missing during assembly or a move. Charging for them, or making you prove a defect first, would be silly. See Where is the assembly hardware?
What counts as a defect
> An inadequacy in materials or workmanship that existed at the time you received it, and causes the product to fail under ordinary use, following the assembly and care instructions.
That test is what separates a covered defect from wear. Within the periods above it covers structural defects, warping or cracking or separation of wooden components under normal use, and faulty hardware — leg mechanisms, magnets, rails, connectors, lift components.
Wear and defects can affect the same part. A topper that arrives delaminating or warped is a defect. A topper worn down after two years of play is not — that's a consumable, and replacements are purchasable. See Wear versus a defect.
Natural wood variation is not a defect
Character marks, grain pattern, colour variation between panels and between production lots, and natural colour aging are inherent to real wood and veneer.
Cerused Oak in particular works pigment into open grain, so visible texture and tonal variation are the intended appearance rather than a fault. See Caring for your Zola finish.
Sit-stand lift systems
Lift components are warranted separately from the table structure, at the periods in the table above. Electric lifts are rated for intermittent rather than continuous duty. Not covered: continuous or near-continuous actuation, use above the stated weight capacity, and obstructing the lift path while it's travelling. See The Tavern sit-stand table.
What isn't covered
- Normal wear and tear
- Not assembling, installing, handling, reconfiguring, or maintaining per the instructions
- Abuse, misuse, or accident — including use in unsuitable environments
- Alteration, modification, or unauthorised repair
- Damage from excessive moisture, heat, direct sunlight, other environmental conditions, or improper storage
- Damage during transport, loading, unloading, or improper handling
- Products bought secondhand or from an unauthorised reseller
- Lost or stolen products
Wear to the play surface, toppers, foam, and finish is also excluded — dice and miniature imprinting, scratches from sharp objects, damage from cleaning agents or sanitizers not in our care guide, and damage from moving or stacking. Those parts naturally wear with use and are available to purchase as replacements.
The warranty is non-transferable and valid in the United States.
How to file a claim
Send photos or video, a short description of what's happening, and your proof of purchase through the Warranty Claim Form:
→ zolamod.com/pages/warranty-policy
We respond within 3-5 business days. Photos matter more than a long description — they let us identify the exact piece and finish and send the right part first time.
You almost certainly won't ship anything back. In most cases we send replacement parts with nothing to return. If we do need an item back to inspect it, we arrange that with you in advance and cover the freight. We won't ask you to return something without agreeing it first.
Two things that are not warranty claims — and are faster anyway
Damage in transit. Freight damage sits outside the warranty and moves through a quicker path — but it must be reported within 5 days of delivery, with photos of the outer carton, the shipping label, and the damage. Keep the packaging until you've checked everything; without those photos a carrier claim can't be filed. See Shipping damage vs. warranty claim.
A missing or broken part on arrival. Photo plus order number through our contact page. See Missing or broken replacement parts.
The short version: arrived damaged → damage flow, 5-day window. Failed or defective in normal use → warranty claim.
